How Do I Work This?

this modern elk is not strictly a blog. It's really a convenient place for me to put up mostly finished – but not definitive – stories, skits, very short items, opinions. They still need some work and input. Think of this site as a kind of open workshop, a New Haven, for trying out new stories.

Nevertheless, I hold the copyright for all written, and some photographic, work throughout, unless otherwise noted.

The second and I think most excellent element about this modern elk: that these aren't finished. And blog design is perfect for that! By all means add comments, but questions like, "Not sure where what you're trying to say here..." or, "That's not the right use of the word omphalos" are also welcome.

The longer stories will be serialized. I've tried to build in navigational elements into each entry. Obviously it's best if you start at the beginning.

Sometimes there will be links to sites I've found useful or interesting during research on a given piece. Go to the Links section in the right hand column. Photos and art not mine and not in the public domain are credited in the Art Credits section. If I can, I'll put links to the photographer's other work there too. If you want me to take down your picture, send me an email. If we can't arrange something better, I'll be happy to take it down.
